1. Information We Collect

1.1 Account Information

When you create an account, we collect:

• Email address — used for authentication and account identification

• Display name — optional, used for your profile

• Google account info — if you sign in with Google (name, email, profile photo)

1.2 App Usage Data

To provide core functionality, we collect and sync the following data to our servers:

• Quran reading progress — current position, completed verses, and khatm history

• Reading streaks — daily reading activity for streak tracking

• App settings — theme preference, language, font selection, reminder times

• Friends list — friend connections and friend request status

1.3 Location Data

We collect approximate location data for the following purposes:

• Prayer times — to calculate accurate prayer times for your location

• Qibla direction — to determine the direction to Mecca

Location data is processed on your device and is not stored on our servers.

1.4 Push Notification Tokens

If you enable notifications, we collect your device's push notification token via Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) to send:

• Prayer time reminders

• Daily reading reminders

• Friend activity notifications (buzz, friend requests)

2. Information We Do NOT Collect

Barakah does not collect or use any of the following:

• Advertising identifiers

• Precise GPS location stored on servers

• Photos, videos, or microphone recordings

• Browsing history

• Contact lists or phone numbers

• Financial or payment information

• Device fingerprinting data

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the collected information to:

• Provide and maintain the App's core features

• Sync your reading progress and settings across devices

• Enable social features (friends, buzz notifications)

• Send push notifications you have opted into

• Calculate prayer times and qibla direction

4. Third-Party Services

We do not use any third-party advertising, analytics, or tracking services.

5. Data Storage and Security

• Core app data (Quran text, duas, zikr) is stored locally on your device in an offline database

• User data (reading progress, settings, friends) is synced to Supabase cloud servers

• All data transmission is encrypted using HTTPS/TLS

• We implement reasonable security measures to protect your data

6. Offline Functionality

Barakah is designed as an offline-first application. Core features including Quran reading, duas, and prayer time calculation work without an internet connection. Data syncs automatically when connectivity is restored.

7. Data Retention and Deletion

• Your data is retained as long as your account is active

• You can request account deletion by contacting us at [email protected]

• Upon account deletion, all associated data will be removed from our servers

• Locally stored data is removed when you uninstall the App

8. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you

• Request correction of inaccurate data

• Request deletion of your account and data

• Disable push notifications at any time through app settings

• Revoke location permissions through your device settings

9. Children's Privacy

Barakah is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected data from a child under 13, please contact us at [email protected] and we will promptly delete it.
